EngineAI’s 1.73-Meter T800 Robot Is the Fighting Machine Joining the World’s First Humanoid Combat League

EngineAI‘s T800 humanoid robot stepped into the ring for the first time on July 16 at the Nanshan Cultural & Sports Center in Shenzhen, kicking off the EngineAI URKL Global Humanoid Robot Free-Fighting League. Standing at 1.73 meters tall and built around a full metal chassis of aerospace-grade aluminum-magnesium alloy, the T800 is not a lab demo or a trade-show novelty. It is a full-sized, full-contact fighting platform, and URKL is the competitive infrastructure EngineAI has built to push its hardware and intelligence systems to the limit in real physical collisions.

The T800’s joint system delivers 450 N·m of high-burst torque, giving the robot enough explosive power to execute techniques like a rising uppercut, a roundhouse kick, or a rapid recovery from being knocked flat. That torque figure matters because full-contact humanoid combat is not simply about landing a single blow. The engineering challenge, as EngineAI frames it, is sustaining the full cycle of movement, attack, defense, and recovery while maintaining coordination under high-dynamic pressure. Every action the T800 takes in the ring feeds through a real-time visual feedback loop spanning perception, decision, and execution. In practical terms, the robot tracks its opponent, reads intent, and commits to attack, evasion, or counter-strike autonomously. EngineAI describes the progression as moving the T800 from “able to fight” to “knowing how to fight.”

Structurally, the T800’s aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis is engineered for repeated impact resistance, while centimeter-level positioning and high-precision orientation recognition keep the robot’s movements controlled and accurate through sustained exchanges. EngineAI’s broader system architecture stacks three layers: an impact-resistant physical body, a “cerebellar” motion intelligence layer handling dynamic full-body control, and a “cortical” cognitive intelligence layer managing tactical decision-making and strategic adaptation. The company positions this integrated stack as the blueprint for what it calls an “agent with power and brain,” where hardware structure, control systems, and training algorithms are collaboratively optimized inside real combat conditions rather than simulated environments.

Crucially, the T800 is not a closed system. EngineAI has opened both software and hardware interfaces to all participating URKL teams, supporting secondary development. This open architecture decouples algorithm iteration from hardware constraints, letting teams independently optimize visual perception loops, tactical decision-making, and precise full-body control. It is a deliberate break from the “black box” model that has historically limited collaborative progress in robotics, and it turns every bout in the league into a live dataset for the broader embodied AI ecosystem. The organizing committee has also announced that the season’s core code will be released as open source, meaning optimizations forged in competition become public assets for the industry to reuse and iterate on.

The opening night delivered proof of concept. Two in-house EngineAI teams ran a full-contact exhibition to demonstrate the rule set and refereeing criteria, followed immediately by the Round of 32. The marquee bout saw “Bullfighter,” in dark-armor plating, edge out “White Eagle” 3-2 across five close-quarters rounds. The league drew over 200 registrations globally, with 32 teams advancing through open qualifiers. Qualifying squads represent China, the United States, Poland, and Singapore, among other countries. The tournament format runs through four gauntlet rounds: Open Qualifier, Round of 32, Group Stage, and Grand Finals, using a hybrid of group double round-robin and double-elimination brackets.

The EngineAI URKL is now advancing through its group stage, with elimination rounds and the Grand Finals still ahead. Teams, algorithm labs, and developers worldwide can follow the league’s progression and explore participation through EngineAI’s official channels.
