Toyota Australia is gearing up for its debut in the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship with its iconic GR Supra. The move marks Toyota\u2019s first entry into Australia\u2019s premier motorsport event, extending the brand\u2019s motorsport footprint beyond its grassroots initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four GEN3 GR Supras will be part of the 2026 grid, with two cars run by Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU). Supercars stars Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood will also represent Toyota on the track. Toyota\u2019s partnership with WAU underscores its commitment to entering Supercars with the best possible team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Toyota Australia Vice President Sean Hanley described the entry as a \u201chistoric moment,\u201d affirming the company\u2019s long-standing interest in joining Supercars. \u201cWith the right car, the right team, and a strong partnership with the Supercars Championship, the time is definitely right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the GR Supra racecars will be powered by Toyota\u2019s 5L V8 2UR-GSE engine, used in performance production cars and the 2019 Dakar-winning HiLux. Development is already underway with Toyota\u2019s in-house design team, who are leveraging CAD and VR technologies to realize the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
