A unique 1987 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U1300L, transformed into an expedition-style camper by Wabi-sabi Overland, is now available for auction on Bring A Trailer (BAT). This rugged vehicle, modified starting in 2017, offers a blend of off-road capability and comfortable living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finished in green, the Unimog is powered by a robust 6L turbodiesel inline-six engine, paired with an eight-speed manual transmission, dual-range transfer case and portal axles. The camper\u2019s design emphasizes functionality and comfort, featuring a kitchenette, dinette, sleeping area, refrigerator, shower and bathroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key additions include a 600-watt solar panel system, Planar 2D diesel air heater, Webasto engine block pre-heater, water filtration system, LED lighting, double-glazed windows, roof turret hatch, roof rack, Marston Mat sand ladders, rearview camera system, ARB awning and front winch. The Unimog is mounted on a black-finished frame with a custom rear bumper, snorkel air intake and multiple storage solutions, including roof-rack-mounted aluminum foot lockers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The camper\u2019s interior is designed for practicality and comfort, featuring air suspension seats, sound-deadening materials and an Alpine stereo system. The living quarters are equipped with LED lighting, vinyl flooring, oak countertops and a memory foam mattress. The bathroom includes an Air Head composting toilet and a high-volume ceiling vent fan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mechanically, the Unimog is well-equipped for long journeys, with a 30-gallon freshwater tank, 16-gallon gray water tank, twin solids and blackwater tanks. The truck rides on 20-inch wheels with Continental MPT 81 tires and features air-assisted four-wheel disc brakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the time of writing, the modified Unimog, which sold on BAT last year for just over $175,000 USD is currently sitting at a highest bid of $57,500 USD with four days left for collectors to place their offers on the lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
