A rare gem from Ferrari\u2018s golden era, the 1954 Ferrari 625 F1, is set to go up for auction via RM Sotheby\u2019s as part of its upcoming Monaco sale. Notably, the 625 is a direct descendant of the legendary 500 F2 \u2014 the car that propelled racer Alberto Ascari to consecutive World Championships in 1952 and 1953.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upgraded to 625 F1 specifications in early 1954, this car marks the beginning of Ferrari\u2019s foray with the Belgian national team, Ecurie Francorchamps and also boasts the unique distinction of being the only Ferrari monoposto raced by the revered Marquis Alfonso de Portago.
