A phenomenal piece of American muscle car history is currently up for bid. An ultra-rare, original, unrestored 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Convertible is live on auction at SBX Cars, with the immaculate \u201ctime-capsule\u201d expected to command over $1 million USD. This particular L88 is one of only 116 examples of the model variant built that year, making it an essential acquisition for any serious collector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its desirability is rooted in its raw, factory-spec performance. The car retains its original powertrain configuration \u2014 a ferocious 427 ci L88 big-block V-8\u2014conservatively rated at 430 horsepower\u2014is perfectly mated to a rugged Muncie M22 four-speed manual gearbox. This motorsport intent is further underscored by the lack of luxury options like air conditioning, power steering, and a radio, all omitted to maximize lightweighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exterior features the definitive Corvette body styling in a brilliant Le Mans Blue paint scheme, complemented by a black convertible top and a matching black vinyl interior. The car also features 15-inch steel wheels with chrome trim rings, Firestone redline tires, a domed hood with 427 emblems, retractable quad headlights, vented front fenders, stingray badging, Soft-Ray tinted glass and split rear bumpers. Showing just 19,886 miles, this specific chassis, completed on April 9, 1969, is one of the purest examples of a race-bred machine ever sold to the public. According to the auction hose, the car received a letter from the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) says that it received a Top Flight Award.
