Developed by the brand\u2019s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division, this purpose-built machine is engineered to conquer the brutal terrains of the Dakar Rally, showcasing the Defender\u2019s legendary capability in its most extreme form yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Defender Dakar D7X-R, which began testing earlier this year, is built upon the robust architecture of the production Defender 110, but is fundamentally re-engineered for the demands of the desert. Key features include a completely bespoke long-travel suspension system for maximum articulation, a reinforced cage and chassis, and massive off-road tires. Under the hood, the Defender houses a a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 that makes 626 horsepower, which is fine-tuned to deliver reliable performance in high-heat and high-altitude conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dakar Rally is a crucial proving ground for the brand. Its participation is not just about competition; it\u2019s about reinforcing the Defender\u2019s reputation for resilience and toughness\u2014a heritage stretching back to the original Camel Trophy days.
