RM Sotheby\u2019s has unveiled a historic collection of Ferraris, known as The Lost & Found Collection and while many of the vehicles in the collection have seen better days, they still present a unique opportunity to acquire rare examples of their favorite models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As RM Sotheby\u2019s puts it a \u201ccaretaker with the proper vision and resources,\u201d could even restore the most badly damaged examples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection is set to be presented during the highly anticipated Monterey Car Week on August 17 and will be displayed in a barn recreated by RM Sotheby\u2019s to reflect the same hurricane-damaged setting they were originally discovered in. Altogether, the collection is estimated to fetch as much as $20 million USD, which comes out to $1 million USD per vehicle on average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What makes this collection of Ferraris, which have lain dormant for decades, special, is that many of them once graced world-renowned races like Le Mans, Targa Florio, and Mille Miglia. Surprisingly, the collection also includes a Ferrari that once belonged to royalty, namely the 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe Speciale, owned by King Mohammed V of Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rob Myers, the driving force behind RM Sotheby\u2019s, expressed the significance of the find: \u201cWhile a select group of Ferrari collectors knew about the existence of these extraordinary cars, the rest of the world remained unaware. This represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for enthusiasts to acquire these iconic Ferraris\u2026 It is the first time that RM Sotheby\u2019s has presented a barn find collection of this magnitude to the market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While all noteworthy in their own right, a few highlights of the collection include a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB, expected to bring the highest bid and the 1954 500 Mondial Spider Series I by Pinin Farina that caught fire during a race in the 1960s, possibly the most storied of all but also the most badly damaged \u2014 which could turn out to even be a selling point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
