BYD’s personalized sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao said Thursday that it will officially launch its first sedan lineup, the Formula S series, on September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fang Cheng Bao announced the launch date on Weibo without providing further details. Final prices for the Formula S sedan and Formula S GT shooting brake will be unveiled at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both modelsopened for pre-orderson August 20 at pre-sales prices of 230,000 yuan ($33,940) to 280,000 yuan, below the range of 250,000 yuan to 300,000 yuan widely anticipated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Formula S series is Fang Cheng Bao’s third product line, following the rugged off-road Bao series and the urban-focused Tai series, and marks the brand’s entry into the sedan market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lineup will be the first to feature BYD’s DiSus-M intelligent magnetorheological suspension, according to a media invitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The technology uses magnetorheological fluid to adjust damping within milliseconds and was previously used primarily in supercars from brands including Ferrari and Lamborghini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing the system to models with pre-sales prices starting at 230,000 yuan is another example of BYD’s strategy of making advanced technology more widely accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Formula S is positioned as a mid- to large-size sedan, measuring 5,060 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width and 1,483 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,960 mm. The Formula S GT has similar dimensions and the same wheelbase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rear-wheel-drive versions offer peak motor outputs of 245 kW or 300 kW, while the all-wheel-drive version delivers a combined 490 kW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Battery capacities are 76.744 kWh and 92.093 kWh, offering CLTC ranges of 730 kilometers to 900 kilometers. The entire lineup features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and supports flash charging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The previously announced Formula S family also includes the Formula SL coupe, which has yet to open for pre-orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch comes as the brand’s sales climb rapidly. Fang Cheng Bao delivered 41,568 vehicles in August, up 155.57% year-on-year, according to data compiled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
