Alpine produces one of the best small sports car on the market \u2014 the Alpine A110. Now, it looks forward to an electrified future with its compact EV sports car, the A290_\u03b2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it is based on the Internet-breakingRenault 5 prototypethat was revealed in January 2021 (and slated to arrive on our roads in 2024), there\u2019s plenty that\u2019s been done to make Alpine\u2019s A290_\u03b2 a sports car through and through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite performance details not being divulged as of writing, it\u2019s clear to tell that the A290_\u03b2 has its eyes set on the hot hatch market. Twin spotlights up front evokes Alpine\u2019s rallying days of the 1970s, while forged carbon fiber used for the front splitter, side skirts, widened wheel arches, rear diffuser, and as an accent on the rear lights embodies a sense of weight reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aerodiscs \u2014 here shaped in an unconventional square manner \u2014 echo the racing elements of the brand, as does the \u201cAlpine White\u201d color that\u2019s accented with the French flag. Inside, you\u2019ll find retrofuturism met with sports car traditions, as an angular LED-clad cabin is complemented with bucket seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike otherconcept cars, Alpine has said this is quite promisingly realistic. PerTopGear, it has been noted by Alpine\u2019s Chief Designer Raphael Linari that \u201c85 percent of the exterior design is identical to the real thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
