The new initiative is said to have stemmed from an engineer who joined Nissan out of admiration for the GT-R.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to build a more exciting car by adding the latest electrification technology I\u2019m involved with to my favorite car,\u201d the unnamed engineer is quoted saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While there\u2019s no news yet on how exactly Nissan will make the conversion, gutting the motorsport icon for an electric drivetrain is sure to stir up controversy. Fellow Japanese automaker Toyota was recently seen crafting hydrogen and electric versions of its nostalgic AE86 series cars.
