An unprecedented collaboration between American travel trailer manufacturer Airstream and Porsche Design\u2018s Studio F. A. Porsche has been unveiled in the form of an innovative travel trailer concept \u2014 the Airstream Studio F. A. Porsche Concept Travel Trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both companies have united decades of design experience to develop this next-generation recreational vehicle, which features an elevated design with cues to Airstream\u2019s hallmarked aluminum aesthetics. Addressing the RV market\u2019s changing demographics, the concept focuses on expanding the interiors and maximizing the dwellers\u2019 space within the vehicle. Evident in the extensive use of skylights and windows to augment the interior\u2019s spatial design, an implemented pop-up roof also provides additional headroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, a lowering suspension is also incorporated, which allows the vehicle to be conveniently stored in any regular residential garage. The new rear shape also encourages better airflow while the trailer is in motion. This is a result of the advanced aerodynamics that has been integrated into the vehicle\u2019s design, which also encompasses a flushed underside with reduced drag-creating projections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the trailer is outfitted with sleek interiors that are designed to minimize aerodynamic drag and protrusions. While the heating and hot water systems, spare wheel, holding tanks, and lithium battery are safely stowed in the 10-inch-deep space beneath the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInnovation is the art of discovering the possible,\u201d said Bob Wheeler, Airstream\u2019s president and CEO. He elaborates that \u201cOur collaboration with Studio F. A. Porsche brought talented new eyes and minds to our never-ending process of improving the Airstream experience. It\u2019s a fresh design approach aimed at reaching a broader, more diverse base of potential customers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The concept vehicle is currently on showcase at the South by Southwest\u00ae (SXSW) Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas.
