The company now says it plans to \u201caccelerate\u201d its approach to EV development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Toyota is now aiming for a 2026 timeline to debut \u201cnext-generation\u201d EVs under the Lexus brand. The company says it will be working on \u201ceverything from the battery and platform to how a car is built optimized for BEVs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo deliver attractive BEVs to more customers, we must streamline the structure of the car, and\u2015with a BEV-first mindset\u2015we must drastically change the way we do business, from manufacturing to sales and service,\u201d Toyota said in its announcement. \u201cLexus will lead this transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond its work on EVs, Toyota will emphasize \u201cintelligence\u201d in future models, bringing together software and hardware to improve fuel efficiency and promote safer driving and ride quality.
