The name 499P follows a naming tradition dating back to Ferrari\u2019s early days whereby the 499 represents the displacement of its six-cylinder engine in cubic centimeters and the \u201cP\u201d stands for prototype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the last Ferrari Le Mans WEC race being in 1972, it will be the first time in 50 years that the automaker\u2019s motorsports division will participate in the highest class of endurance racing. Built on a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, the Ferrari 499P is \u201cwind designed\u201d sporting a complex aerodynamic style enhanced by simple, sinuous shapes that echo Ferrari\u2019s DNA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Complying with the technical regulations of the race, the hypercar is powered by a hybrid powertrain combining a four-wheel drive, V6 bi-turbo engine with an electric motor delivering power to the front axle.
