An Acura spokesperson confirmed to Car and Driver that production of this higher-performance version of the mid-size luxury crossover will go on hiatus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As reported byAutomotive News, the decision was made due to uncertainty around the U.S. EPA\u2019s new emissions regulations, which are set to take effect in 2027. The MDX Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 that\u2019s not currently found anywhere else in Honda or Acura\u2019s lineup, while the standard MDX uses a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ayoyo.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/39db80e939ba79c27cc799bef58ecad7.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24630\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.5;width:1500px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ayoyo.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/39db80e939ba79c27cc799bef58ecad7.webp 1500w, https:\/\/www.ayoyo.com.cn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/39db80e939ba79c27cc799bef58ecad7-768x512.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a statement, Acura said that it would offer some of the Type S model\u2019s \u201cfeatures and styling\u201d to the rest of the MDX lineup, which suggests that some changes are in store for the MDX soon. Acura has not yet released details on the 2027 MDX, but it says that more information is coming later this year. The current-generation MDX has been on the market since the 2022 model year, and the Type S variant was added when this generation debuted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have your eye on an MDX Type S, there\u2019s probably still time, as Acura says it expects to have inventory of 2026 MDX models for salefor a while. We searched our marketplace and found several hundred new Acura MDX Type S models in stock.
