The second-generation vehicle provides signature M performance in a concentrated form, with a 338kW\/460 hp six-cylinder in-line engine, a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive. Notably, the high-performance sports car\u2019s debut marks another celebratory milestone in the 50th anniversary of BMW M GmbH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The engine residing under the M2\u2019s bonnet outperforms its predecessor by 66kW\/90hp. Revving to a maximum of 7,200 rpm, the power source achieves peak torque of 550 Nm between 2,650 and 5,870 rpm with maximum output coming in at 6,250 rpm. The car\u2019s cooling and oil supply systems are engineered to maneuver dynamic longitudinal and lateral distances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equipped with superior powertrain and chassis technology mimicking those of the BMW M3 and BMW M4, the new M2 delivers agile handling that remains controllable even as its driver tests its limits. The two-door model\u2019s exterior composition also plays a role in its easy handling with athletic coup\u00e9 proportions, a short wheelbase and an almost evenly balanced 50:50 weight distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In terms of design, the vehicle\u2019s frameless kidney grille with horizontal bars reminds onlookers of its M lineage. Flared side skirts and thick wheel arches make for an impressive side view, and the back boasts a powerful appearance with vertical reflectors, two pairs of exhaust pipes, a spoiler lip on the boot lid and an eye-catching diffuser insert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside, the car features a driver-oriented cockpit with the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assitant for high-tech usage. Shift lights and other driving-related information now appear in an updated graph layout on the 12.3-inch screen. Additionally, there are driver-oriented designs including M-specific readouts, controls and setup options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
