Paris-based interior designer and architect Pierre Gonalons is the latest creative to work with Renault, following on from Mathieu Lehanneur\u2019s Renault \u201cSUITE N\u00b04\u201d with his own take on the Renault 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dubbed the Renault 5 Diamant, its influences throughout are evident. From the jewel-shaped headlights \u2014 which also reference the Renault 5\u2019s formidable career in rally racing \u2014 to the button-shaped door handles that are inspired by earrings, this custom show car draws from the decadent world of jewelry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bold three-layer matte pink paint job is varnished with gold pigments to create a sparkling gold finish during the day and a dark blue sparkle at night, and inside, you\u2019ll find Pinton mohair wool carpets, a custom seat fabric made by M\u00e9taphores, and gilding on various touchpoints by Bertin-Aubert. It\u2019s a feast for the eyes with details working like easter eggs all around the car inside and out, as sundials have been planted onto the disc rims, the Renault diamond logo becomes a part of the \u201cR5 Diamant\u201d moniker, and the minimalistic dashboard is fitted with a phone dock trimmed in a hand-woven horsehair fabric done by Le Crin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere, you\u2019ll find the door controls and window mechanism made from gold-gilded brass spheres, and a steering wheel that references Gonalons\u2019 \u201cLoggia\u201d chair and a racetrack thanks to its marble and carbon fiber structure wrapping around itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
