In an email obtained by Electrek, the electric car maker wrote that \u201cthe light wood in Ocean Coast is more challenging to produce,\u201d and that so it is currently focusing on just producing vehicles with the Black Mountain and Forest Edge interior trims. \u201cBuilding in few build combinations reduces complexity with our suppliers and in the plant and allows us to build a greater number of vehicles,\u201d the company continued. \u201cThis updated approach also means we\u2019ll see Adventure Package vehicles rolling off the line alongside Launch Edition vehicles over the next few months.\u201d Those who ordered a vehicle with the Ocean Coast trim will now have to wait until at least fall for their cars to be delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Coinciding with the announcement of the delay was a preview of a new \u201cSand Mode\u201d that Rivian\u2019s CEO RJ Scaringe showed off over on Twitter, where a clip shows the R1S handling some pretty sandy terrain. While there\u2019s not much more information at the moment regarding how exactly the mode affects or changes the car\u2019s performance, Scaringe did confirm that it\u2019ll be a feature that you can obtain in the form of an OTA update without Rivian owners having to physically install anything themselves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rivian has just announced that the Ocean Coast trim for both its R1T and R1S models are now being delayed.
