Uber is officially taking its ride-hailing dominance to the skies with the introduction of Uber Air, an all-electric air taxi service powered by Joby Aviation.
Designed to seamlessly integrate into the natural rhythm of city life, the newly announced platform allows users to book aerial transit directly through the standard Uber app. A single tap coordinates every leg of the journey, automatically matching the flight with an Uber Black pickup and drop-off to ensure a frictionless ground-to-sky experience. Joby Aviation expects to carry its first passengers in Dubai later this year, marking a massive milestone for urban mobility and the long-standing partnership between the two companies.
From a technical standpoint, the Joby aircraft is meticulously engineered to redefine modern transport. The electric vehicle utilizes six tilting propellers that enable it to take off vertically before smoothly transitioning into forward flight. Capable of reaching rapid speeds up to 200 mph, the aircraft delivers an impressive range of up to 100 miles on a single charge. The cabin is built to accommodate up to four passengers alongside a certified commercial pilot, featuring large panoramic windows for expansive views of the city below. Furthermore, the air taxi boasts a refined acoustic profile specifically designed to blend quietly into the ambient noise of bustling streets.
