Known as the iCAR V25 in China, the five-seat SUV is set to make its debut in Chengdu on 14 August, with a 1.5-litre turbocharged range-extender powertrain and a rugged, retro-inspired design.
This SUV is positioned in the 150,000-yuan price range. It is expected to arrive at dealerships in late September, with test drives starting in October, and it will be officially launched in global markets in November.
Boxy styling, sharper details
The iCAUR V25 follows iCAUR’s Future Classic design theme, with a squared-off body, round headlights and a spare-wheel-style storage box mounted on the tailgate.
The V25 also gets cleaner detailing, with sharper lines and a silver finish that gives the design a more contemporary feel.
1.5T range-extender powertrain
The V25 takes a different approach with its 1.5-litre turbocharged range-extender system. It can be driven on electric power for everyday use, while the petrol engine steps in to generate electricity when the battery needs it on longer trips.
So, instead of having to look for a charger along the way, drivers can simply stop at a petrol station and carry on with their journey.
A practical size for everyday driving
The V25 measures 4,636 mm long and has a 2,820 mm wheelbase. Despite its relatively compact footprint, the five-seat cabin offers enough room for the whole family to sit comfortably.
It is also easier to manage than a larger SUV, particularly in tight car parks. For drivers in Kuala Lumpur, that means less hassle when squeezing into those narrow spaces at shopping malls.
Driver assistance and what’s next
The iCAUR V25 can be fitted with a LiDAR sensor and is expected to use a high-performance chip for its driver-assistance features. That could include assisted driving on motorways and automated parking in the city.
